Meet Me by the Lake

Hey Curiouser Cats!
Here's a look featuring some goodies sent to me from @ShopTobi and @PublicDesire. It's officially winter now, but as you all know, I live in SoCal and we really don't have a "real" winter. Either way, the temperature does drop around this time and I can't stand the cold. But, I do love dressing up for the cold. I love thick, warm, chunky, oversized knit sweaters like the one I'm wearing from @ShopTobi. They can easily be worn like the way I styled it in this post or with a comfy pair of shorts and some knee high socks and chunky platform booties. Check out @ShopTobi for more knit sweaters! They've got a lot of cute pieces on their website.

Kap suggested shooting at this place because of the pretty lake that was there. It's such a beautiful location and I thought this outfit fit perfectly with this location because it kinda has this "strolling around the park" type of feel. There were ducks everywhere and a cute little turtle sunbathing and this huge duck somehow got on this bridge with us. It was lowkey scary because I couldn't really run with these platform heels. Not to mention, they haven't been broken into yet so just walking in them was awkward.

Close-up details:
-Public Desire Jessi Cleated Sole Platforms Shoutout to Sim from @PublicDesire for always hooking me up with new PD heels since the summer time. I love these heels because they pretty much can go with anything--casual or dressy.

Vintage 1992 Fendi Purse: It was a hand-me-down from my mother. She said she copped this purse when I was a baby and it's so cool how she kept it and took care of it and eventually gave it to me. I plan to hand it down to my future daughter some day :)

Gold Name Necklace: In case y'all didn't know "LIA" is my nickname...my full name is Angelia. Kap gave me this for Christmas!

80s Purple sunnies: These are probably my all-time favorite pair of sunglasses. I wear these with every outfit. They are my go-to sunnies. They go with almost everything.

Make-up: Foundation is Make Up For Ever HD Liquid Foundation in shade 128. For my eyebrows, I finally started using Beverly Hills Anastasia Dip Brow in "Soft Brown." So far, I love it! Lastly on the lips, I have MAC's famous Heroine.

I Just Might Be in Yo Hood

So here's yet another "sporty" look. I don't know what inspired me to dress like this that day that I shot this. I just randomly threw this outfit together and it just worked.

These are the shoes that were in the Instagram giveaway I recently hosted with Public Desire. It was a success, by the way. There were probably 1,000+ participants and I randomly picked the winner. These shoes are called "Zia" Platform boots. They're actually really comfortable to walk around town with because of the big platform. They're the perfect boot to add to a casual look such as this one.

(AA Baseball Tee, Nike Sports Bra, AA Disco Pants, ZeroUV Sunnies, Public Desire 'ZIA' Platform Boots, AA Hair tie, ALDO Purse)

This was one of my very last shoots of the summer and it was shot by my good friend Romar, who took most of my pictures all summer. We shot this on the street my best friend lives in Carson (my hometown). I spent most of my days there this summer. It's refreshing to come back to where you came from just to kick it with old homies. I love Carson, California. It's my home and I am proud to be from there. Anyway, hope you all enjoy this look.

Needed Some Color in my Life

(Missguided Shift Dress, Forever 21 Chambray Flannel, Public Desire "Zia" Platform Boots, ZeroUV sunnies)

I was contacted by someone from Missguided last week and they gave me a voucher to spend on their site. I was so stoked because I love UK brands like this and Motel. Their clothes are way different from US brands like Forever21, the usual. I picked 3 shift dresses/boyfriend tees and each of them have funky patterns. I chose patterned garments because I wanted to choose pieces you wouldn't find here in the states.

This particular dress stood out to me and I was "iffy" about it. I actually wasn't going to choose it because it's a little too colorful and bright for my taste. If you've seen my previous posts, I'm usually only in black and white. I figured I needed some color in my life...so here we are! It's summertime, so it's only fitting to be in floral print and with loud colors. Enjoy! Check out Missguided. They're doing free US shipping!

22 Blues

( Married to the Mob x 40 oz Sports Bra, Forever 21 Skirt, Roxy Flannel, Vans)
Photographed by: Romar Uy

Today is my 22nd birthday and it's bittersweet. It's safe to say I've got the "22 Blues." It's okay, though. I'll be 21 forever!

Shoutout to my girl, Nikki, from Married to the Mob for the dope care package. I posted a picture on Instagram in case you're curious about the things I received. This sports bra and snapback were from the package. Decided to mix femininity with a tomboy look. Hope you all like how I styled this. Stay curious for more outfit posts all summer long!

I'm going to the Dodger game later today. I'll probably post my outfit on Instagram.

1992.

(American Apparel Bathing Suit, H&M Boyfriend Jeans, Jeffrey Campbell Scully, IMADRI Custom Flannel, 80s Purple Circle Sunnies)

Back to wearing my infamous head wrap and my bamboo good wood heart-shaped hoops. I've searched for the perfect boyfriend jeans for a while now and I finally found them. Got them at H&M for $30. Great deal. Usually, boyfriend jeans run for $60-$70 and most of them are extra baggy for me since I'm petite. H&M had the perfect ones. They fit perfectly, not too baggy and not too tight. Perfect!

If the weather is kind of chilly, you can throw on your favorite leather jacket and a nice, warm knit black circle scarf or you can wear a loose, knit off-the-shoulder sweater instead of the leotard. I live in sunny, warm Southern California so the weather is quite warm year round which explains why I am wearing this fit. Hope you all enjoy this look!

(Stüssy Jersey, Nike Air Force Ones)

I've always been a big fan of Stüssy. I love their laid back, street style and I dig how I can wear their women's line when I want to be girly, yet I also wear a size small in their men's line when I want that "men's streetwear" look. If you wanted to make this a more feminine look, you could wear this outfit with a pair of white Jeffrey Campbell Scully's or clear-heeled JC Soireé's. Nowadays, I personally choose to go out dressed comfortably (dressed like a boy with a feminine touch) rather than wearing heels and looking cute. A year or two ago, if y'all were following my blog back then, I would go walking around the streets of LA shopping (and struggling) wearing Jeffrey Campbell heels...and y'all know all my JC's are at least 6-7 inch heels. We would go shopping all over L.A. for hours! Can't believe I used to do that. Now I choose to wear my J's over my JC's. I save my JC's for special occasions now.

The other night, I was going through all my shoe boxes and I forgot I even had certain pairs of shoes...I have a lot of shoes!! I have shoes that were hard to get and are still hard to get. I'll do an updated 'shoe collection' post soon. I'll also do more looks with more of my J's. I have pairs that I haven't even worn yet. I'll hop on that as soon as possible. It's almost my spring break! So far, I'm doing GREAT in the nursing program. I have a love/hate relationship with nursing, but I can't wait to be an RN, though! Hope you all like this simple look. Back to studying!

Outfit of the Night for the MURS Show

(H&M Jumper, Velvet Tights [a gift from my bestfriend], Jeffrey Campbell Coltrane's)

This is what I'm wearing tonight to go and see my favorite rapper, MURS, at House of Blues Anaheim. I'm still a little sick so I decided to dress warm and repeat this outfit I wore last year, just changed up the shoes. If you have been following me for a while, you would know that I shot in this same exact outfit last year, but I wore JC Pointe's and I had my hair down with Ombré. Well, I'm bringing my favorite headwrap back because MURS recognizes me when I have it on. Jordan and I go to so many of his shows and we've gone to three Paid Dues Festivals and we always say "hi" to him every time we see him. It's safe to say we're his biggest fans and I'm thrilled that he follows me on Twitter and Instagram. I love MURS because he's so down for his fans and he treats his fans like we're all his homies.

If you've never heard of him before, go look him up. MURS stands for Making Underground Raw Shit and he is one of the realest underground rappers there is. My favorite albums are with him and 9th Wonder. They make THE BEST dynamic duo. My favorite song to listen to is "Walk Like A Man" off of "3:16 the 9th Edition." It's a great song because it tells a great, but sad story. It's one of the reasons why I love MURS so much because he tells stories through his raps and he's so good at it. He's a great story-teller and I love every story he has to say.

I hope you guys enjoy this look. It's good for a night show in the fall because it gets pretty chilly out. Hope you guys check out MURS and end up liking his music as much as I do. I'll leave y'all with one of his most known songs, "L.A."

Comfortable

(Brandy Melville Hoodie, American Rag Floral Shorts, Jeffrey Campbell Coltrane)

FINALLY got my hands on a pair of Jeffrey Campbell Coltrane's!!!! I've posted about wanting them last year, but I never built up the courage to spend $200. Thank goodness to Karmaloop's 40% off sale, plus FREE SHIPPING! It was like a sign from the shoe gods and I couldn't pass up that chance, so I bought it last Wednesday night when my direct deposit kicked in to my bank account.

Earlier this week, I had to get the flu shot and since then, I've been sick. I wanted to wear the Coltrane's all dressed up and glamorous, but I just wasn't feelin' it so I decided to put together a comfortable, girly, "Brandy Melville"-ish fit. Plus, Coltrane's make the perfect everyday shoe, so why not rock them with a wearable outfit. Hope you all enjoy this look. I plan to wear my Coltrane's to the Murs show I'm attending tomorrow, so #staycurious for that outfit. I will post it before the show!

The Sweet Escape

(Forever 21 Crop)
Happy Halloween!
This year, I decided to be one of my idols...Gwen Stefani! I figured since I've learned how to do faux pin-up bangs this summer, I might as well be someone who always sports the pin-up look very well. And since I'm blonde now, I figured I could be Gwen Stefani this year! I was thinking about being Rita Ora instead since I have a lot of J's and she rocks J's from time to time, but I am a huge No Doubt fan and I have been a fan since I was 9 years old. I've been to three No Doubt concerts in my life and I've lost my voice at all of them because I sing along to every single song. This look was inspired by one of Gwen Stefani's looks in her music video "The Sweet Escape"
